Alexander Romanovsky

A highly anticipated guest, Alexander Romanovsky, the Ukrainian pianist awarded the 2001 "Busoni" Prize at the age of seventeen performs today in orchestras of the caliber of the New York Philharmonic and the Filarmonica della Scala. A testimonial of the Varignana Music Festival since its inception, Romanovsky collaborates with Pappano, Noseda, Conlon, among other conductors and, since 2014, he has been the Artistic Director of the International "Vladimir Krainev" Piano Competition in Moscow.

Alexander Romanovsky

A regular guest of the Varignana Music Festival since the inaugural event, Alexander Romanovsky was born in Ukraine in 1984 but moved to Italy at the age of thirteen because of his love for the piano which led him to study at the famous piano academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola. He made the musical headlines for winning the prestigious “Busoni” Prize of Bolzano when he was only seventeen. The author of highly appreciated pieces for Decca Records, he has stepped on the most famous stages both for recitals and as a soloist with major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic of London, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra of St. Petersburg. He actively collaborates with internationally renowned conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Gianandrea Noseda, and James Conlon and was invited to perform a concert at the Papal Residence in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI.


The concert starts at 9:00 pm. 

While waiting for the concert, guests can start the evening with a gourmet aperitif and wine tasting at Palazzo di Varignana.

A few days before the concert, the organizing committee will send guests an email with useful information on the event.

In case of rain, the event will be held at the Belvedere Ground of Palazzo di Varignana.
